UP Government Announces ₹2,500 Crore Vrindavan Development Master Plan
The Uttar Pradesh government unveils a comprehensive development plan for Vrindavan including metro connectivity, heritage conservation, and smart city infrastructure.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a comprehensive ₹2,500 crore development master plan for the Mathura-Vrindavan region, aimed at transforming the holy city into a world-class spiritual and tourism destination while preserving its cultural heritage.
Key Components of the Plan
1. Metro Connectivity
A dedicated metro corridor connecting Mathura Junction to Vrindavan via key temple sites is planned for commissioning by 2028. The 12-kilometer corridor will have 8 stations, significantly improving accessibility for the growing visitor volumes.
2. Heritage Zone Conservation
A 200-crore heritage conservation fund will restore and maintain key historical structures along the parikrama route, including ghats, ancient temples, and traditional havelis.
3. Smart Infrastructure
Smart city initiatives include intelligent traffic management, digital signage for tourists, free Wi-Fi zones, and an integrated waste management system across the main tourist corridors.
Impact on Real Estate
Industry experts anticipate a 20-30% uplift in property values along the proposed metro corridor. Areas like Chhatikara Road and Bhaktivedanta Swami Marg, where major developments like Krishna Bhumi are located, stand to benefit significantly from improved connectivity and infrastructure.
Timeline
Phase 1 of the plan, covering road infrastructure and basic amenities, is expected to be completed by December 2026. The metro corridor and smart city components will follow in phases through 2028.
